Age, Disease Duration Increase Osteoporosis Risk in Systemic Sclerosis

The prevalence of osteoporosis in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) is 27%. In a meta-analysis, the presence of SSc increased osteoporosis risk. Age older than 50 years, menopause, aging, and longer disease duration were identified as risk factors for osteoporosis in patients with SSc.
