Patients with alcohol-related liver disease have a high risk for death from non-liver-related causes. In a meta-analysis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and obesity were prevalent. Risk ratios for death from CVD, nonhepatic cancer, and infection were 2.4, 2.2, and 8.2, respectively.
