A Sea Change

Researchers use coral to replace broken bones in sheep

If researchers in Paris are right, bone fractures in humans may one day be healed by using coral from the sea instead of painful bone grafts.

An article from the BBC Online explains that the procedure, using coral implanted with bone cells, worked in a group of test sheep. They say it could be of help when doctors have massive gaps in bone to fill.

There's no word on whether the sheep became better swimmers.
