Health Tip: If You Have Leg Cramps During Pregnancy

Here's how to deal with them

(HealthDay News) -- Leg cramps are a common side effect of pregnancy. To help prevent these painful nuisances, follow these suggestions from the Nemours Foundation:

  • Before you head to bed, do some exercises to stretch your calves. But while exercising, never point your toes.
  • If you do get a cramp, try to stretch out your leg and flex your foot to ease the cramp.
  • Gently massage the calf to help the cramp subside.
