(HealthDay News) -- It's easy to sprain your wrist during a fall or while playing a sport.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says typical warning signs of a sprained wrist include:

  • Swelling.
  • Pain or tenderness, particularly when you move the wrist.
  • Discoloration or a bruise on the wrist.
  • A sensation of tearing or popping.
  • Feeling heat in the wrist.
