Avoid certain risk factors

(HealthDay News) -- An aneurysm is a weak, bulging area that develops in an artery. If it bursts, it can lead to deadly internal bleeding.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute says the best way to help prevent an aneurysm is to avoid these risk factors:

  • Smoking and secondhand smoke.
  • High cholesterol and high blood pressure.
  • Inactivity.
  • A poor diet that includes too much fat, salt and sugar.
