Osteoporosis
A clinical research study to determine if treating young people who have glucocorticoid-associated osteoporosis with Alendronate (Fosamax) once a week for 18 months, in addition to calcium and vitamin D, improves their bone mineral density more than in patients treated with calcium and vitamin D alone. Volunteers aged 8 to 21 with ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, systemic-onset juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, or juvenile dermatomyositis are needed to participate.
