Breast Cancer COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Obesity

Breast Cancer

Women at high risk for breast cancer are eligible for participation in this research study. Since breast cancer arises in the breast milk duct lining, this study will obtain breast duct cells from each participant every six months for three years. Seeking women between ages 35-70, with intact nipples, with a family history of breast cancer, and must be available for five years. Research site located in Dayton, Ohio.

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

Health Sciences Research Center is conducting a research study to compare the effects of two different drugs in people with COPD. You may participate in this study if you are 40 or older, have established clinical history of COPD, have a history of smoking one pack of cigarettes per day for 10 years or more, and have a documented history of at least one COPD exacerbation within the past year. Research site located in Ithaca, NY.

Obesity

This study will evaluate the effects of an investigational medication taken once daily on the quantitative progression of atherosclerosis as assessed by CIMT. Participants must be 55 or older and have waist circumference of at least 88 cm in women or at least 102 cm in men. You will not be eligible if you have a history of very low calorie diet or surgical procedures for weight loss and an obesity of known endocrine origin; or uncontrolled diabetes. Research site located in Virginia Beach, Va.
