Near-sighted people have higher IQs

Dorothy Parker wrote it, but never explained it. That's been left to the journal, Clinical Genetics, which reports that there's a link between nearsightedness and high intelligence.
All other factors being equal, nearsighted people routinely score eight points higher on IQ tests than non-myopic people.
