Health Tip: Signs of a Concussion

(HealthDay News) -- A concussion occurs when a sharp blow or force causes the brain to collide with the rigid bones of the skull. Serious concussions can impact the way brain signals are processed.

People who have had a concussion may need close supervision and medical care, the University of Missouri Health Care says.

The university offers this list of a concussion's common warning signs:

  • Severe headache.
  • Drowsiness or dizziness.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • One eye pupil that is dilated more than the other.
  • Sudden weakness in one arm or leg.
  • Memory loss, confusion or forgetfulness.
