Avoid the Flicker, Avoid the Seizure

If you're prone to seizures, here's something to try

(HealthDayNews) -- If you're riding in a car, you might feel queasy if you try to watch the telephone polls whizzing by. But for those who suffer from seizures, the results might be even more severe. The "flicker repetition" could actually cause a seizure to occur.

The journal Acta Neurologica Beglium has some advice on avoiding the worst of these problems. For instance, seizure-prone folks should sit at least nine feet from a television screen.

But if all else fails, wear an eyepatch. Covering one eye may reduce peripheral and binocular vision, but it's a reliable way to prevent flicker-induced seizures.
