Health Tip: Using Eye Makeup

(HealthDay News) -- Makeup should be used properly and safely to prevent injury to the eye, says the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The academy encourages those who wear eye makeup to:

  • Throw away eye makeup after three months.
  • If you develop an eye infection, toss all of your eye makeup.
  • Do not separate clumped lashes with anything sharp.
  • Never share eye makeup.
  • Remove all eye makeup before going to bed.
