The American Dental Association mentions these possible warning signs:

  • Gums that bleed easily.
  • Gums that are tender and may be red or swollen.
  • Gums that recede from the teeth.
  • Bad taste in the mouth, or bad breath.
  • Teeth that feel loose.
  • Dentures that no longer fit the gumline.
