(HealthDayNews) -- Having a tooth knocked out is traumatic. But if you follow a few simple rules, you might be able to save it.
According to M Care, a service of the University of Michigan, you should:
- rinse the tooth in clear water;
- put it back in the socket or hold it under your tongue (or place it in a glass of milk or a wet cloth);
- hold gauze or a clean handkerchief or tissue on the socket if it's bleeding;
- get to a dentist within 30 minutes.
