Health Tip: Get Regular Care to Manage Diabetes

Factors to check at each doctor's visit

(HealthDay News) -- Regular checkups can help keep diabetes in check and prevent complications.

The U.S. National Diabetes Education Program recommends the following regular tests and screenings:

  • Blood pressure.
  • Foot inspection.
  • Weight.
  • A review of your self-care plan.
  • An A1C test at least twice annually.
  • Annual evaluations of your eyes and teeth, cholesterol, blood and urine.
  • Annual flu vaccination.
