Early Lung Cancer Detection Drives Reduction in Overall Cancer Deaths

Overall cancer mortality rates continue to decline, due in part to early detection strategies for lung cancer. In 2018, 28% of lung cancers were detected at the localized stage compared with 17% in 2004. Additionally, the three-year survival rate rose from 21% to 31% during the past decade.
