Some only see shades of gray

You probably remember those pictures they made you look at in school. You know, the ones made up of different colored dots. You were supposed to see a number among all those dots.

And you probably did. But some kids, 8 percent of boys and 0.5 percent of girls, don't. They are truly colorblind, seeing the world in shades of gray. Other people have trouble differentiating some shades of color.

If you're colorblind, there's not much that can be done to correct the problem. But knowing you have the problem can help you navigate the hurdles it presents.
