Eye Injuries

Emergency treatment

(HealthDayNews) -- Eye injuries, particularly when something gets stuck or splashed in the eye, often need medical attention.

If liquid gets into your eye, the American Academy of Family Physicians recommends you flush it gently with water for at least 15 minutes, then call the poison center or your doctor for further advice. Don't rub or touch it, and don't apply any medication.

If an object gets trapped in your eye, cover the affected eye with a paper cup or eye shield until you can get to a doctor.
