You've heard those ads for laser eye surgery, and you've decided to take the plunge.
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas says check these things before picking a surgeon or laser clinic:
- Make sure a physician does all follow-up checks;
- Find out if the Food and Drug Administration has approved the equipment for your procedure;
- If the clinic is mobile, get assurance that its standards are same as a fixed-site clinic;
- Avoid clinics that pressure you to have surgery right away;
- Avoid a surgeon who has a financial interest in the equipment he uses.
