Health Tip: Buying Contact Lenses

Some precautions to take

(HealthDayNews) -- Before buying contact lenses on the Internet, by phone or through the mail, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration suggests you check:

  • When you last had your eyes examined. If it's been longer than two years, you need to see your eye doctor before ordering new lenses.
  • The expiration date on your prescription. Some states require a one-year renewal, some a two-year renewal, while other states let the doctor decide.
