Health Tip: Managing Astigmatism

From glasses to contact lenses, suggestions to improve vision

(HealthDay News) -- Astigmatism occurs when the eye's cornea becomes abnormally shaped, causing blurry vision.

The American Optometric Association suggests these ways to manage the condition:

  • Wearing eyeglasses.
  • Wearing contact lenses.
  • Undergoing orthokeratology, in which gas-permeable contact lenses are fitted to the eye, to reshape it over time.
  • Reshaping the cornea surgically.
