Be Flexible

Stretching has many fitness benefits

If you work out, you probably want to see results right away. You want to lift those weights, climb that stair machine and run like the wind on a treadmill.

Not so fast. Fitness experts stress the importance of flexibility training. It isn't glamorous, but it can enhance your performance during more rigorous workouts. In addition, you reduce your risk of injury to joints and your lower back.

Slow, static stretches work best. Experts say not only will you avoid muscle pulls, you'll increase blood and nutrient flow to muscles. You'll even improve muscle coordination by reducing the time it takes for a nerve impulse to travel between your brain and your muscles.
