Bone Up With Exercise
Workouts help keep osteoporosis at bay
Building strong bones isn't just a matter of getting lots of calcium. Exercise is key, too.
And not just any exercise. Weight-bearing exercises, like running and weight-lifting, help lower your odds of getting osteoporosis as you grow older, says the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
You should start when you're young, but it's never too late to pick up the habit, says the medical center. Even a brisk walk can help.
