How do you feel about exercise?

According to an article from MSNBC, most of us have distinct exercise preferences and attitudes. Understanding them can help you design a workout regime that best suits your personality.

"Balanced holistics" are usually college-educated moms who know exercise has both emotional and physical benefits. They use exercise to get "centered" and start feeling lousy if they skip workouts. Balanced holistics, about 13 percent of those who exercise, gravitate toward aerobics, road biking, calisthenics, hiking, flex training, skiing, jogging and stretching.

Slightly older, college-educated women who exercise to help relieve a medical condition or prevent one from developing are called "conscientious preventors." They like aerobics, power walking, strength traning and stretching.

"Social competitors" are young single men who like activities that allow them to indulge in their competitive tendencies and have fun at the same time. They are often looking for camaraderie. They like sports leagues, road biking, dance, golf and jogging. On the other hand, "Sitcom skeptics," who perch in front of the television, often think those who exercise are obsessed. They say clean living and a good diet is all you need to stay healthy. And then there are those who are unresolved, undecided. They just don't get it when it comes to exercise.
