Make Sure Kids Get Exercise

To make them healthy and wise

(HealthDay) -- Children need lots of exercise, but now that school has them sitting much of the day, you might wonder how to keep them active.

The American Heart Association says check your school's policy concerning physical education and make sure your child's physical fitness is measured at the beginning and end of each school year. Even day-care centers should provide at least 20 minutes of exercise a day.

The association also recommends that homework be done after dinner to allow kids a chance to be active after school.
