Food Insecurity Rising Among U.S. Adults

More than one in five U.S. adults (21.6%) report household food insecurity (summer of 2022), up 6% from April 2021. Rates of food insecurity were even higher among Black and Hispanic adults (29.2% and 32.3%) vs. White adults (17.3%), as well as among people with a child living with them (23.9%).
