The American Gastroenterological Association mentions these common triggers of IBS:

  • Eating foods that produce excess gas.
  • Taking certain medications that can trigger colon spasms.
  • Drinking too much alcohol.
  • Drinking chocolate milk.
  • Consuming caffeine.
  • Menstruating among women.
