Health Tip: Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions About Your Health

Your doctor is a primary source

(HealthDay News) -- Doctors and pharmacists can usually help you with any questions you have about a particular medication, but you must always ask and discuss any other concerns you have with them.

Here's a list of questions to ask your health-care provider, courtesy of the University of Iowa:

  • Why do I need this medicine?
  • How does this medicine work?
  • Is the generic form effective?
  • How long should I take this medication?
  • What are its side effects?
  • What do I do if I miss a dose?
  • Will it interact with any other drugs I'm taking?
  • Will it interact with alcohol?
  • May I take this medication with fluids or foods?
