There's no quick fix for intoxication

(HealthDayNews) -- Time is the only cure after a night of heavy drinking. According to the Health Service Center at the University of Toronto, the following supposed remedies are mere urban legends:

  • Coffee -- It acts as a stimulant but doesn't diminish the effects of alcohol.
  • Fresh air and exercise -- Going outside for a walk removes you from the bar but it won't speed up sobriety.
  • Switching drinks -- Consuming even more spirits will only make things worse.
  • Vomiting -- It may alleviate the nausea and get rid of some of the alcohol in your stomach, but it won't decrease the alcohol levels in your blood stream.
