Health Tip: A Short Note on Long Underwear

Thickness matters

(HealthDayNews) -- What's the best fabric for long underwear worn in cold weather?

That was the subject of a study done by the Section for Extreme Work Environment in Trondheim, Norway, where they know cold!

The researchers tested a 100 percent polypropylene fabric and mixtures of polyprolylene and wool and wool-cotton polypropylene. They tested the fabrics when they were dry, and after they had been dampened.

And the winner? According to results published in Ergonomics, the choice of fiber didn't make much difference. The thickness of the underwear was the most important factor, regardless of what it was made of.
