(HealthDayNews) -- If your teenager is off to college in a few weeks, besides shopping for new clothes and dorm supplies, there are other things you can do to help him gear up.
The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia offers these suggestions:
- Make sure your teen has copies of his immunization records, as well as any other relevant medical records, and that he's had the vaccine against meningococcus bacteria.
- Make sure your child knows how to treat a cold or the flu, when to call the doctor, and when to summon emergency help.
- Have a safety talk with your child that covers issues such as walking alone at night, drugs, sex, and alcohol.
