Shark Smarts

How not to become a bite to eat

You've seen the movies, read the newspaper reports and watched the TV shows. And all of them make you afraid to dip your toes in the water.

But there's lots you can do to reduce the already slim chances of a shark attack. An article from the International Shark Attack file, gives these tips:

  • swim in groups;
  • stick close to shore;
  • avoid swimming in darkness or twilight;
  • don't swim if bleeding or menstruating;
  • don't wear jewelry or bright-colored swimwear.

And above all, don't be too worried. The risk of being attacked is very small.
