How to feel better in tall shoes

(HealthDayNews) -- If you think those 4-inch stiletto heels make your calves look swell and your legs long, you should know a couple of things before you slip them on.

If you have a high arch in your foot, you'll be able to wear a higher-heeled shoe more comfortably, says the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Also, look for shoes with padding in the forefoot area. That cushions the toes and ball of the foot.

After wearing heels that high, the researchers say, you should always do some basic leg stretches to keep your calf muscles and Achilles tendon from tightening up too much.
