Your Shoes Are Cool!

Their color matters

(HealthDayNews) -- White shoes are cool -- and not just because they look good.

Researchers from the Department of Podiatry at the Scott and White Clinic and Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, tested the theory in a simple way. They filled balloons with water and then put them into white shoes and black shoes. They then subjected the shoes to an infrared heat lamp for 15- and 30-minute periods.

After 15 minutes, the balloons in the black shoes were about 7 degrees hotter than those in the white shoes. And after 30 minutes, reports the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the balloons in the black shoes were 11 degrees hotter than those in the white shoes.
