Health Tip: Coping With Sinusitis

Suggestions to help soothe pain and congestion

(HealthDay News) -- When you develop a sinus infection, it can take time for symptoms to subside. In the meantime, there are things you can do to get some relief.

The Mayo Clinic suggests:

  • Drink plenty of liquids, particularly water and juice. Avoid alcohol and anything caffeinated.
  • Keep sinus cavities moist and warm. Take a hot shower, or apply a warm towel to your face while you sit over a warm bowl of water.
  • Use a saline solution to flush your sinuses.
  • Elevate your head while you sleep, allowing your sinuses to drain.
