Where to Stick Your Thermometer

Lots of spots now work

(HealthDayNews) -- When you were small, your parents took your temperature with a rectal thermometer, and when you got old enough to have some dignity, you graduated to an oral thermometer. Now, it seems that any place on your body is a target.

There are dots on foreheads, and thermometers stuck in ears and under armpits. With all these choices, what's the best way to measure temperature?

According to the journal, Pediatric Nursing, when it comes to accuracy, taking temperature by mouth is the first choice. A thermometer held under the armpit is second, the ear is third, and the rectal temperature is the least accurate of all.
