Sen. Rand Paul Recovering From Lung Surgery
A part of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul's lung that was damaged in a 2017 attack was removed on the weekend.
The Republican lawmaker and former presidential candidate was tackled by a neighbor outside his Kentucky home. He tweeted Monday about the surgery performed in Tennessee, the Associated Press reported.
Paul, 56, is recovering at home, a spokeswoman said.
"Sen. Paul will need to recover from his surgery for a few weeks, which will limit his travel and events," spokeswoman, Kelsey Cooper said in a statement, the AP reported.
"He will continue to work on diplomacy, legislative and constituent issues during that time," she added.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Breaks Shoulder in Fall
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell broke his shoulder Sunday in a fall at his Kentucky home, according to a statement from his office.
"This morning, Leader McConnell tripped at home on his outside patio and suffered a fractured shoulder," David Popp, McConnell's communications director, said in a statement, CNN reported. "He has been treated, released, and is working from home in Louisville."
"The Leader will continue to work from home," the statement added.
Democrats want McConnell to reconvene the Senate to pass gun control legislation in the wake of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio on the weekend, CNN reported.

14 Hospitalizations in 2 States May be Linked to Vaping
Possible vaping-related breathing problems have led to the hospitalization of 14 teens and young adults in Wisconsin and Illinois.
There were 11 cases of severe breathing problems in Wisconsin and three in Illinois, CNN reported.
"The names and types of vaping products, as well as where they were obtained, are still being investigated," the Illinois Department of Public Health said Friday.
The cases in Wisconsin appeared to be caused by an infection, "but every test has come back completely negative," Thomas Haupt, a respiratory disease epidemiologist with the state's Department of Health Services, told CNN.
Vaping is the only apparent link between the cases, "but we don't know what they vaped, where they got their vaping liquids, all this needs to be determined at this point," Haupt said.

Entenmann's Little Bites Cookies Recalled Due to Plastic Bits
One lot of 5-pack Mini Chocolate Chip Entenmann's Little Bites Soft Baked Cookies has been recalled because there may be plastic pieces in the packages, Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. says.
The blue plastic pieces, which are not baked into the cookies, may pose a choking hazard. No injuries linked with the recalled cookies have been reported, according to the company.
The recalled cookies have best by dates of Aug. 31 and Sept. 7, 2019, UPC code 720300237 and lot code 1350. They were distributed in dozens of states.
