HealthDay Now: ER Nurses Face Increased Violence, Abuse

Nurses staffed in emergency room departments across the country are coming face-to-face with a steep rise in workplace violence as they care for patients. HealthDay's Mabel Jong is joined by two nurses, one of whom endured a violent assault from a patient that caused her to question whether she can ever return to her position in the ER. Dr. Jane Lipscomb, a former professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and an expert on workplace safety, also joined the discussion to comment on the role of hospitals and regulators in protecting nurses.
