Hearing loss with or without vision loss is tied to excess mortality. In a meta-analysis, hearing loss was associated with a 13% higher risk for all-cause and 28% higher risk for cardiovascular mortality; dual sensory loss was tied to excess mortality risks of 40% and 86%, respectively.
