Webcast Scheduled to Discuss Maintenance of Certification

Questions and comments can be submitted in advance of event, to be held Dec. 17, 2014

MONDAY, Dec. 15, 2014 (HealthDay News) -- New data relating to Maintenance of Certification (MOC) will be discussed in a free webcast to be held Dec. 17 by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

Noting that recent changes in American Board of Internal Medicine MOC requirements have triggered questions about whether the process is relevant to clinical practice or meaningful, the webcast will address new data relating to MOC. Data will be examined from two articles, published in JAMA, that elucidate the correlation between MOC and measures relevant to patients and physicians.

JAMA editors, authors, and panelists will be discussing the implications of these new data on patients and physicians, professionalism, and health care quality movements. Questions and comments can be submitted for panelists online using the Responses tab on the online version of the articles.

The webcast will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time; registration is required.
