Iron Metabolism May Impact MAFLD Development

Iron metabolism seems tied to metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). An analysis of open genome-wide association study databases showed that elevated liver iron was associated with increased MAFLD risk, and genetically predicted MAFLD was associated with increased serum ferritin levels.
