Health Tip: Taming Acne

Don't expect medication to work immediately

(HealthDay News) -- Many teens battle acne every day, and the American Academy of Pediatrics offers advice on what to do and what to expect:

  • Be patient and remember that acne medication can take a while before you start to see an improvement.
  • Follow your doctor's treatment regimen regularly and consistently.
  • Don't use additional treatments, skin care products or medications than your doctor recommends. They can make the problem worse.
  • Don't scrub skin too vigorously.
