Burping Baby

Pat your infant gently on the back

(HealthDayNews) -- If your baby doesn't want to eat much, it may be because she has a lot of air in her stomach, which makes her feel full. Burping your baby will help let out the excess air.

According to Harvard Medical School, the best ways to burp your baby are either up over your shoulder, patting her gently on the back, or sitting her sideways in your lap. If you place her in your lap, hold her head upright by supporting her under the jaw, and pat her gently on the back.

Sometimes, if she doesn't burp, placing her flat, then sitting her back up again will help her burp. If you can't get a burp from her in two or three minutes, stop trying. Some babies can go through a whole feeding without needing to be burped.
