Health Tip: Help Your Newborn Learn

Use age-appropriate toys and encourage play

(HealthDay News) -- Your newborn isn't too young to begin learning, the Nemours Foundation says. Age-appropriate toys can stimulate the developing senses of touch, sound and site.

The foundation suggests using the following toys:

  • Baby rattles.
  • Toys with different textures.
  • Toys that play music.
  • Crib mirrors that can't break.
  • Mobiles or toys that have strongly contrasting patterns and colors, such as red, black and white.
