Little children need special care on planes

Taking small children on airplanes can be a trial. Just getting them to sit still for a couple of hours or more isn't easy. Then there are safety considerations.

The National Safe Kids Campaign says make sure your kids, and you, buckle up at all times. Children under 40 pounds should be in an FAA-approved car seat next to a window.

The campaign also suggests getting to the airport early so you have lots of time to board the plane and get your children settled.
