(HealthDayNews) -- With high school proms and end-of-year parties just weeks away, ensure your kids know how to party safely, advises the Atlantic Health System.
Here are some safety pointers to share with your teens:
- Don't do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Don't accept food or drinks from someone you don't trust.
- Make sure you have a safe way to get home.
- Make sure your parents know where you are.
- Adopt the buddy system. Go to a party with a friend and make sure you leave with that same friend.
- Don't hesitate to call 911 if there's a medical emergency.
- Act responsibly. If you get caught doing something illegal, you'll have to face the consequences. And if you're underage, your parents may also be charged.
