Do's and don'ts for scooter riders

(HealthDayNews) -- If a non-motorized scooter is your favorite means of transportation, learn how to operate it safely. According to Oregon State University, as the weather warms up every spring, emergency rooms fill with people suffering scooter-related injuries.

Here are some do's and don'ts:

  • Do wear an approved bicycle helmet.

  • Don't wear a headset covering both ears, or earplugs in both ears while riding.
  • Do make sure the scooter's handlebars are not above shoulder height.
