Klebsiella pneumoniae Tied to Ankylosing Spondylitis

Klebsiella pneumoniae infection may be linked to the development of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). In a meta-analysis of 25 studies, the presence of K. pneumoniae in feces was associated with AS. Patients with AS had higher rates of serum immunoglobulin (Ig)A and IgG vs. healthy controls.
