Liver stiffness may affect mortality in the general population. Among 4,152 individuals, liver stiffness ≥8.0 kPa was tied mortality. This finding was driven by individuals with heart failure, as liver stiffness was not tied to mortality in those without heart failure or coronary heart disease.
