Loss of Child Tied to Increased Stroke Risk for Bereaved Parent

Bereaved parents have a modestly increased risk for stroke. Among 6.7 million individuals, the death of a child was associated with a 23% increased risk for either ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke during follow-up, regardless of the cause of child death or the age of the deceased child.
